Whoopi Goldberg says the paycheck she earns from The View is enough to surprise people. On the Aug. 4 episode of Keke Palmer’s Baby, This is Keke Palmer podcast, Goldberg said, “The check” is what she loves most about her ABC daytime job, according to E! News.
Goldberg did not reveal the exact figure, but she told Palmer that viewers would be shocked if they saw it. “Trust me,” she said. “You would be shocked. As soon as they’d show you the check, you’d be like, ‘What the—?’”
The 70-year-old also looked back on how she joined the show after Rosie O’Donnell stepped away in 2007. Goldberg said Barbara Walters offered her the opportunity while she was doing a radio show and she accepted right away.
Goldberg said she appreciates the job and does not take it for granted. She told Palmer that she feels lucky to work, enjoys talking and discussing different topics, and values the chance to do that each day alongside her co-hosts on The View.
