Wet Leg’s Rhian Teasdale is the face of a new Deutsche Telekom campaign aimed at Gen Z, according to Stereogum. The campaign, called “Not A Passenger,” focuses on reclaiming agency in a digitally overwhelming world.
The visual is inspired by The Cardigans’ 1998 hit “My Favorite Game,” and Teasdale is shown pushing back against internet influencer “demons” and the pressure of online noise. The video also includes a short clip of Wet Leg covering “My Favorite Game” as an homage to the original.
In a statement shared with the campaign, Teasdale said she relates to the message because she and others in music are constantly dealing with outside opinions on social media. She said it matters to her to tune that out and stay on her own frequency.
Telekom Electronic Beats will host an event tied to the campaign at a former garage workshop in Berlin on August 26. Wet Leg is set to headline, with Lava La Rue and Wolfram opening the show.
