A Virginia man got an unexpected windfall after a scratch-off ticket he thought was worthless sat in his truck for weeks, according to UPI Odd News.
The Hanover County man told Virginia Lottery officials he had bought a Gold Hard Cash ticket and left it in his vehicle, believing it was a non-winning ticket.
He later tried to scan it for rewards points, but the machine kept showing an error. When he brought the ticket to a local store to scan it, he learned it was actually worth $100,000.
The winner said he plans to use the money to pay bills and make improvements to his home, with the rest going into savings.
