A truck fire temporarily shut down part of Porter Road during the lunch hour on Aug. 14, according to InMaricopa and Phoenix Regional Dispatch.
Crews were called around 12:30 p.m. after a black work truck caught fire in a southbound lane of Porter Road just south of Smith-Enke Road. A reporter at the scene saw heavy white smoke around the vehicle as firefighters worked to put it out.
The fire led to closures in both directions while crews responded. Southbound lanes were still closed as of 1:15 p.m.
A spokesperson for the Maricopa Fire/Medical Department said the blaze was caused by an engine fire. The vehicle was unoccupied when firefighters arrived, according to the department.
