Treblo Appears to Confirm Fenix Flexin’s “Rubberz” as an AI-Generated Hit

Stereogum says the controversy around Fenix Flexin’s “Rubberz” has grown after Treblo, the company formerly known as Sonauto AI, released a tool meant to detect whether a song was created with its software.

When the publication uploaded the MP3 from the “Rubberz” SoundCloud, the classifier reportedly returned “Very likely Treblo.” Treblo says the detector has a false positive rate below 1 in 10,000.

The story also points to comments from Treblo co-founder Ryan Tremblay, who appeared to acknowledge that the software was used to make the track. In remarks published Monday by Substacker Marcus Lawrence, Tremblay said, “Someone appears to have used our model to find a sound that millions of people connected with and that’s exciting.”

According to Stereogum, “Rubberz” has reached No. 58 on the Billboard Hot 100, which would make it the first AI-generated song to break into the chart. The article notes that the case comes as major labels are discussing rules for chart eligibility for AI-generated music.
