Craig Melvin may make a living with words, but he briefly lost them when he first reconnected with future wife Lindsay Czarniak on the air, according to E! News. Melvin said he knew who she was when he joined WRC-TV in Washington, D.C., in 2008, while Czarniak was covering the Olympics in Beijing.
When Czarniak returned to the station, Melvin was caught off guard during a live broadcast and introduced her on camera. The pair later joked about the awkward exchange, and Melvin said they first met on NBC.
Melvin and Czarniak later turned their workplace meeting into a relationship, but it took some time before they were on the same page. According to E! News, Melvin was ready to move forward in April 2009, while Czarniak was hesitant and stepped away for a period before they reconnected.
The couple eventually started dating, got engaged in 2011 after a Miami sailboat proposal, and married on Oct. 15 in Washington, D.C. They are now parents to son Delano and daughter Sybil, and Melvin has continued to praise Czarniak publicly as both a partner and a broadcaster.
