Three food trucks parked at Central Arizona College reported generator thefts this week, according to InMaricopa. The businesses affected include Cobber’s Cravings, Dr. Coffee and Sundays’ Soul Food.
Maria Cobb, owner of Cobber’s Cravings, said she arrived Wednesday morning to find the straps securing her generator cut and scattered, with tire tracks leading out of the lot. She said her husband later followed the trail toward the Tortosa neighborhood.
Dayna Blair, who owns Dr. Coffee, said her generator was also taken, but the truck was still able to open by using a spare generator. Sundays’ Soul Food had its generator stolen last week in the same area, according to the report.
Central Arizona College police said campus cameras captured grainy footage of the thefts and asked the public for help identifying two people seen driving a dark-colored ATV pulling a small utility trailer. Cobb said she believes the same people may have been responsible for both incidents.
Cobb said replacing a generator can cost about $3,000, a major expense for a small business. Despite the theft, Cobber’s Cravings said it planned to open for dinner service at 6 p.m. and had already received support from the community.
