1,600-pound horse rescued from creek in Georgia

Fire departments in Georgia joined forces this week to rescue a 1,600-pound horse that was found trapped on its side in a creek behind its owner's property, according to UPI Odd News.

The Forsyth County Fire Department said on social media that its Rescue 12 crew was called to the scene Tuesday after the horse was discovered unable to stand.

Crew members brought in help from the Cherokee County Fire Department's Technical Large Animal Rescue Team. According to the post, the teams spent more than five hours trying several methods before using Cherokee's large animal tripod to lift the horse back onto its feet.

A veterinarian examined the horse at the scene, and after regaining feeling in its legs, it was able to walk back to its stable.
