The Weeknd has revealed that his latest gaming obsession is the indie fishing game demo About Fishing, according to NME. The singer spoke about the game in a conversation with video game journalist Gene Park for The Washington Post.
About Fishing is described as a fishing mystery game that mixes calm gameplay with a sense of unease. The game’s demo is available now on Steam, and the full release is planned for later this year.
The Weeknd said the demo immediately caught his attention. He compared the feeling it gave him to discovering unusual games as a kid, when his cousin had a collection of burned Sega Dreamcast discs featuring Japanese titles he had not seen before.
After trying the demo, The Weeknd reportedly invited creator Kevin Brown and composer Cameron Ginex to his office so they could play together. He also told The Washington Post that the game is “beautiful and haunting in the right ways,” adding that it has more depth than it first appears to have.
