Pearl Jam’s Eddie Vedder paid tribute to his friend Glen Hansard by busking in Hansard’s longtime spot in Dublin city centre, according to NME.
Hansard, the frontman of The Frames and one half of The Swell Season, died in a motorcycle crash last month at the age of 56. He began busking on Grafton Street when he was 13.
Vedder recently played in that same location with local musicians after attending Hansard’s funeral at St. Patrick’s Cathedral. During the short performance, he played Pearl Jam’s “Black” and Bruce Springsteen’s “Drive All Night” on Hansard’s guitar.
Earlier, Vedder also performed at the funeral with Markéta Irglová and members of The Frames, singing “The Song of Good Hope” in tribute. Bono also performed a spoken word version of “Beautiful Day” at the service.
Hansard had spoken before his death about his long friendship with Vedder, saying the two had stayed close for more than 15 years and had toured together multiple times.
