Charli XCX made a surprise video appearance during Djo’s set at Outside Lands 2026 in San Francisco, according to NME.
While Djo, whose real name is Joe Keery, performed “Charlie’s Garden” on Saturday night, the live version replaced the song’s original spoken-word cameo from his Stranger Things co-star Charlie Heaton with a voicemail from Charli XCX.
As a ringtone played through the speakers, the festival screens showed Charli leaving the message. In it, she told Djo she had no idea he had written a song about her, called it sweet, and asked him to call her after the show.
Charli XCX was also one of the headline acts at the festival and later joined The Strokes onstage for “Take It Or Leave It,” according to NME.
