The Strokes have released a new behind-the-scenes video called In Transit: Part II, offering fans a look at how they recorded their latest album, Reality Awaits, according to NME.
The 10-minute clip acts as a follow-up to the band’s 2001 mini-documentary In Transit, which followed the group during the early days of Is This It. The original was later released on DVD to members of the now-defunct Alone, Together fan club in 2004, per IMDb.
The new video was filmed over six weeks in Costa Rica while The Strokes worked on Reality Awaits with producer Rick Rubin. It shows drummer Fabrizio Moretti recording parts, Julian Casablancas heading to the studio, and the band working on songs including “Falling Out Of Love” and “Going Shopping.”
Reality Awaits is the band’s seventh full-length album and their first since 2020’s The New Abnormal. The album was originally set for June 26 but was pushed to Friday, July 24, with guitarist Albert Hammond Jr. saying the band wanted the streaming and vinyl release dates to match.
