U2 and Martin Garrix have released a new collaborative single titled “Fireflies,” according to Rolling Stone.
Garrix debuted the song during his headlining set at Tomorrowland last Friday, and the performance included a surprise appearance by U2 guitarist The Edge.
The release is the first time all four members of U2 have appeared on a song with Garrix, though the band and the producer have worked together before. Garrix previously produced “Scars” for U2’s latest EP, Easter Lily, and in 2019 he teamed with Bono and The Edge on “We Are the People,” which was written for the UEFA European Football Championship.
Garrix has also produced U2’s “Your Song Saved My Life” for the Sing 2 soundtrack, while Bono has co-written several Garrix songs, including “Angels for Each Other,” “Catherina,” and “Weightless.”
The Edge said the group has a long history with Garrix and described their latest session as adventurous. Garrix called “Fireflies” a unique song that began six summers ago and said hearing it live at Tomorrowland with The Edge was surreal.
