The Reytons have scored their second UK Number One album with A Love Letter To A Broken Town, according to NME. The Rotherham band’s self-released fourth studio album went straight to the top of the Official Albums Chart on August 14.
The record also reached number one on the Official Vinyl Albums Chart. Frontman Jonny Yerrell said the result came despite the album not receiving any plays on mainstream radio.
Speaking after the chart announcement, Yerrell said the week had been overwhelming and thanked the community for its support. He said the album was “unapologetically us, Rotherham and Reytons,” and the band dedicated the achievement on Instagram to “the grafters, the dreamers and the everyday people who taught us everything we know.”
The Reytons’ chart run has included their 2023 number one What’s Rock And Roll?, while third album Ballad Of A Bystander reached number two. Their new album was previewed by the singles Jukebox and Busker’s Paradise, and their world tour is set to resume in the UK and Ireland in October.
