The Linda Lindas have announced a new album, Gotta Get Out, which is set to arrive Aug. 28 through Reprise/Warner Records, according to Rolling Stone. The 11-song release will be the California punk band’s third full-length album and follows their 2024 record No Obligation.
Along with the album news, the band has shared a new song titled “Closer,” featuring Hayley Williams. The track opens with sharp guitar work before Williams joins Bela Salazar and the rest of the band on the chorus.
In a statement, Salazar and Lucia de la Garza said the song is about feeling time slip away and noticing yourself getting older from a distance. They added that staying present has become especially important as their lives keep moving quickly.
The band said they began writing “Closer” on their own before bringing Williams in to help with the bridge. They also said they have long admired Williams through the different phases of her career, and that it was meaningful to collaborate with her.
Rolling Stone reported that after the studio session, the band and Williams ended up at Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios. The album’s track list includes songs such as “Burning Out,” “Blood on Our Hands,” and “See You Next Time.”
