The 1975 tribute band The 9075 say they were asked to keep quiet for two months before playing Matty Healy’s stag do, according to NME. The group said they were sworn to “absolute secrecy” after being booked for the private celebration.
The party was held recently in Malibu, California, ahead of Healy’s marriage to model and musician Gabbriette Bechtel. Footage later shared on social media showed The 9075 performing The 1975’s “The Sound,” with Healy joining them on stage for that song and also appearing for “Give Yourself A Try.”
According to NME, the tribute band played a 45-minute set at the Aviator Nation Dreamland venue in front of 25 guests. Healy’s bandmates George Daniel, Ross MacDonald and Adam Hann were also there, each dressed in different Healy-inspired costumes.
The 9075’s manager Matthew Parker said keeping the surprise under wraps was the hardest part, but added that seeing Healy’s reaction made it worthwhile. After the set, the band spent several hours with Healy and his guests and later joined him at Barney’s Beanery to watch England in the World Cup, before attending his wedding rehearsal party at the Rainbow Bar & Grill in Hollywood.
