Ted Lasso’s fourth season includes a playful nod to Taylor Swift in its premiere episode, according to E! News. In the episode, Rebecca Welton, Keeley Jones and Leslie Higgins visit Ted in Kansas City as they try to persuade him to come back to England to coach AFC Richmond’s new women’s team.
While the women are out shopping, Rebecca stops at a Kansas City boutique called Dazzle Me Moi. At first, she is not impressed by the store’s rhinestone-covered pantsuits, but the owner explains that the business got a boost after Swift performed in the city during the Eras Tour.
The shop owner says a backup singer bought an outfit from the store, posted it online, and helped spark more customer interest. Rebecca eventually buys the pantsuit and is moved by the idea of women supporting women.
Executive producer Jamie Lee told E! News that the reference likely came from conversations in the show’s writers’ room while Swift’s Eras Tour was happening. Season four of Ted Lasso is now streaming on Apple TV.
