Dave Grohl once paid for Corrosion Of Conformity drummer Reed Mullin’s rehab before Mullin died, according to a new interview with singer-guitarist Pepper Keenan.
Mullin died at the age of 53 in January 2020. Speaking on Suicide Silence guitarist Chris Garza’s podcast, Keenan said Grohl stepped in to help when Mullin’s health was declining, paying for rehab out of his own pocket.
Keenan said the band tried to help Mullin in the years leading up to his death, but that he was not able to get things under control. He described Grohl’s support as kind and said he would never forget it.
Keenan also reflected on Mullin’s musicianship, saying that at his best he was a powerful and creative drummer who helped push crossover music forward. Grohl and Mullin had previously worked together in the 2014 supergroup Teenage Time Killers.
