Taylor Swift’s song “August” has been removed from a TikTok post shared by Donald Trump’s team, according to NME.
The video, posted by the “Team Trump” account earlier this week, showed the president watching fireworks with Melania Trump while Swift’s 2020 track played in the background. The caption on the post said, “I’m sure Taylor Swift is going to be super excited we used her song!”
When users later viewed the video, the platform displayed, “This sound isn’t available.” Variety reported that an earlier Team Trump post using Swift’s “Father Figure” also had its audio removed, and fans noticed a third post featuring “Opalite” was unavailable as well.
Swift and Trump have clashed publicly in the past. In 2024, Trump criticized Swift after she endorsed Kamala Harris, and his Truth Social account later shared AI-generated images that falsely suggested she had backed his campaign.
Other artists have also objected to Trump’s team using their music in posts. NME noted that Ariana Grande, Kesha, Sabrina Carpenter and Olivia Rodrigo have all criticized similar uses of their songs, along with several other artists and estates.
