Olivia Rodrigo played a surprise show in Brooklyn on Thursday night, performing at the Warsaw venue in Greenpoint in front of about 1,000 people, according to NME. The singer only announced the gig that morning, and the $25 tickets sold out within two hours.
Rodrigo delivered a 15-song set that leaned heavily on her new album, You Seem Pretty Sad For A Girl So In Love. Four songs, including “My Way,” “U + Me = <3,” “Maggots For Brains” and “Expectations,” received their first public performances, aside from an unaired Austin City Limits taping last month.
After the concert, Rodrigo launched her first Bandcamp page. The page currently features “Purple (Happy Version),” an alternate recording of the song from her new album, priced at $1.50.
According to NME, proceeds from the track will be donated to the Daisy Chain Fields Fund, which is tied to Rodrigo’s Daisy Chain Field festival set for August 29 in Irvine, California. The all-women lineup includes Chappell Roan, Bikini Kill, Doechii, Garbage, Stevie Nicks and Karen O, and Rodrigo is also scheduled to perform.
