Sweet Pill moves Houston show after White Oak Music Hall hosted Ken Paxton event

Sweet Pill is moving its upcoming Houston concert after learning that White Oak Music Hall recently hosted an event for Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, according to Stereogum.

The Philadelphia emo band had been scheduled to play White Oak Music Hall on Aug. 19, but announced on Instagram that the show will now take place at Bad Astronaut instead. The group said ticket holders for the original venue will be refunded.

In its post, Sweet Pill said the decision came after finding out about the Ken Paxton event and added that the move reflects the values the band stands for. The band also said it will donate funds to Montrose Grace Place, a Houston organization that supports vulnerable young people facing homelessness.

White Oak Music Hall later posted a statement on Instagram saying it serves as a neutral forum and that renting the venue for an event does not mean the venue endorses the person or group involved. That post has since been deleted, according to Stereogum.
