Former Svalbard vocalist Serena Cherry has announced a second solo album under her Noctule project, and this time the inspiration comes from Elden Ring, according to NME.
The new record, titled Extinguish Thy Flame, is set for release on September 25. Cherry previously released her solo album Wretched Abyss during the Covid-19 lockdown, with that project drawing from Skyrim.
Cherry has already shared two songs from the upcoming album. The lead single, Lord Of Blood, was described as a tribute to the horned demigod Mogh, while the latest track, Goddess Of Rot, focuses on the Elden Ring boss Malenia.
In a statement, Cherry said she connected strongly with Malenia’s story and wanted the song to reflect both the character’s tragedy and the power of Scarlet Rot. She also said the harsh, unforgiving nature of Elden Ring fits well with the intensity of extreme metal.
Svalbard formed in 2011 and released four albums before announcing last year that they would split up.
