Detroit indie rocker Stef Chura has announced her first album in seven years. Dancing Alone on the Concrete is due out October 2 through Saddle Creek, according to Pitchfork.
The LP includes help from R.E.M. members Peter Buck and Mike Mills on the lead single, “Danny.” Production on the full album was handled by Apples in Stereo co-founder and In the Aeroplane Over the Sea producer Robert Schneider.
In a statement about “Danny,” Chura said the song began with a chance meeting in New Orleans and reflects the feeling of wanting to be rescued and swept off one’s feet. She said she wrote it as an ode to the fantasy of that moment and the version of herself who might have gone to the party instead of staying home.
Following the album’s release, Chura is scheduled to head out on the road opening dates for Dinosaur Jr., according to Pitchfork.
