Universal Pictures has set a summer 2027 release date for its Snoop Dogg biopic, according to NME. The film, titled Snoop, is scheduled to open in cinemas on August 6, 2027.
Outer Banks actor Jonathan Daviss will star as Snoop Dogg. Craig Brewer, known for Coming 2 America, Hustle & Flow, Footloose and Dolemite Is My Name, is directing the project.
The movie was first confirmed last year, and it will be the first release under Universal’s overall deal with Death Row Pictures, Snoop’s content label. According to NME, Brian Grazer of Imagine Entertainment will produce the film alongside Snoop Dogg and Death Row Pictures president Sara Ramaker.
Plot details have not been revealed, so it is still unclear whether the story will cover Snoop’s full career or focus on a specific period of his life. NME notes that the biopic was first announced in 2022, when Joe Robert Cole was writing the script and Allen Hughes was attached to direct.
