Olivia Rodrigo has spoken out again in support of reproductive rights, saying abortion bans are not “pro-life” but “pro-control,” according to NME.
The comments came during a discussion with the Center for Reproductive Rights, where Rodrigo spoke with president and CEO Nancy Northup and legal and policy experts Meetra Mehdizadeh, Autumn Katz and Nimra Chowdhry about abortion restrictions in the United States.
As part of the conversation, Rodrigo and the panel discussed the effects of the 2022 Supreme Court Dobbs decision, the importance of public education, and why some states still keep restrictive laws in place despite high maternal mortality rates.
The discussion comes ahead of Rodrigo’s first Daisy Chain Fields Festival, set for August 29 at Great Park in Irvine, California. The all-female lineup includes Chappell Roan, Bikini Kill, Doechii, Garbage, Stevie Nicks, Mitski and more, and the event will raise awareness and funds for organizations that support women’s rights.
The Center for Reproductive Rights will be one of 10 nonprofit partners involved in the festival and will have an on-site presence to share information about its work.
