Sir Anthony Hopkins releases debut album 'Life Is a Dream' after decades of composing

Sir Anthony Hopkins has released his debut album, Life Is a Dream, a collection of 12 compositions he worked on over six decades, according to ABC News.

The album was conducted by Gustavo Dudamel and performed by the Philharmonia Orchestra. It was recorded at London's Alexandra Palace in April and is set for release by Decca Records on Aug. 21.

Hopkins told ABC News that music was his “first love” and said he began playing piano when he was 4 years old. He later started composing, writing his first piece, a waltz, in 1960 when he was 22.

He said the album reflects memories of his childhood in Wales and his life experiences, with themes of nostalgia, sadness and happiness running through the music. Dudamel praised Hopkins’ work in a statement, saying it shows the same emotional depth found in his acting.

Hopkins said he may want to perform live next, with Carnegie Hall at the top of his list.
