Lucy Davis, known for The Office U.K. and Wonder Woman, says her stage four breast cancer has spread to her bones and is now incurable. According to E! News, the actress shared the update in an Aug. 11 Instagram post.
Davis wrote that the first sign she noticed was a small hard spot rather than a clear lump. She said she nearly skipped getting it checked, and used her post to urge people not to ignore anything that seems unusual and to get it examined.
The 53-year-old said she is trying to make the most of whatever time she has left and has looked for lessons in the experience. She also said humor has been important to her, and that she asked friends and family not to treat her like someone who is sick.
Davis added that she is not scared of what comes next and feels at peace with it, though she is grieving for her family. She said she plans to keep working in acting and continue her animal advocacy, and noted that her beloved dog Gracie will be waiting for her sooner than expected.
