System Of A Down frontman Serj Tankian has suggested that drummer John Dolmayan may no longer support Donald Trump, according to NME.
Tankian was asked about comments from his 2024 memoir Down with the System, in which he described Dolmayan as “is or was” a Trump supporter. In an interview with Rolling Stone Italy, Tankian said the word “was” is correct, though he added that he could not say for certain whether Dolmayan still holds those views.
He said he thinks Dolmayan may have grown tired of Trump “like many others,” but noted that political differences have made their relationship more complicated. Tankian and Dolmayan are both bandmates and brothers-in-law, and Tankian said their families spend a lot of time together.
Dolmayan has long been an outspoken Trump supporter and has previously said he was not at risk of being fired from the band over his politics. Tankian has also been critical of Trump in the past, including saying in 2021 that many people felt relieved when Trump left office.
