A disabled vehicle blocking a road in Homestead led to multiple charges for one driver last week, according to InMaricopa.
Police responded around 8:53 p.m. on July 27 and found a man sitting in the driver’s seat with what appeared to be a beer can nearby, along with two similar cans and a glass bong inside the vehicle, according to a probable cause statement.
Officers identified the driver as 41-year-old Ezra Dalton. According to the statement, Dalton said the can outside the vehicle was not his and told officers he had been at Duke’s Roadhouse and drank a beer around 6 p.m.
Police said Dalton showed signs of impairment, including red watery eyes and swaying during the sobriety check. He also refused field sobriety testing and resisted when officers tried to handcuff him, according to police.
Authorities said the cans in the vehicle were Excelsiors Imperial hard cider, the same brand as the one found outside. Dalton faces felony charges including aggravated assault, resisting arrest, false reporting to law enforcement, spirituous liquor in a motor vehicle and driving while under the influence. A hearing is scheduled for Aug. 4.
