Sam Fender and Olivia Dean’s song “Rein Me In” has set a new chart record in the U.K., becoming the longest-running No. 1 single by British artists, according to Stereogum.
The track has spent 16 weeks at the top of the chart, surpassing Wet Wet Wet’s 1994 hit “Love Is All Around.” It also matches the 16-week run of Bryan Adams’ 1991 song “(Everything I Do) I Do It For You,” which is Canadian.
Fender reacted to the news in a video for Official Charts posted on social media, saying he was excited and overwhelmed by the song’s run at No. 1. He said it was his first No. 1 single and described each week at the top as reason to celebrate.
“Rein Me In” was released in June last year as a remix of the solo version from Fender’s album People Watching. For Dean, the chart success adds to a growing list of hits, including her No. 1 single “Man I Need” in the U.K. last year.
