Role Model says he botched an Olivia Rodrigo cover and may change his name

Role Model, the alt-pop artist also known as Maine native Tucker Pillsbury, admitted he did not handle his cover of Olivia Rodrigo’s “maggots for brains” very well, according to Stereogum.

The performance happened during a BBC Live Lounge appearance tied to the release of his new album, Chuck Timely & The Hourglass. Stereogum described the version as a quiet folk-pop take on the song, which appears on Rodrigo’s latest album you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love.

After the BBC posted the cover, Role Model wrote on his Instagram story that he “botched it,” as quoted by Stereogum. He also acknowledged that the response online has been harsh.

In comments attributed to @tucker, he said the jokes about his stage name have made him consider changing it. He compared the reaction to the way artists like Post Malone and Lil Wayne are referred to by their names, saying people should “just use your brain,” according to Stereogum.
