Sean Combs has countersued Rodney “Lil Rod” Jones, accusing him of defamation and of stealing personal documentary footage that was later sold to Netflix for a docuseries, according to Rolling Stone.
In a complaint filed Tuesday, Combs’ legal team said Jones made false claims in the four-part documentary series “Sean Combs: The Reckoning,” which aired in December 2025 and was recently nominated for three Emmys. Jones’ attorney did not immediately respond to Rolling Stone’s request for comment.
Jones first sued Combs for $30 million in February 2024, months after Casandra “Cassie” Ventura filed her own sexual abuse and sex trafficking lawsuit against Combs. Ventura and Combs later reached a $20 million settlement within 24 hours.
In his lawsuit, Jones said he worked with Combs in 2022 as a music producer on “The Love Album: Off the Grid” and claimed he witnessed troubling behavior, including a shooting, drug use, and firearms inside at least one of Combs’ homes. He also alleged that Combs drugged and sexually harassed him, accusations Combs has denied.
Combs, who is serving a 50-month sentence on prostitution charges from his 2025 criminal trial, is asking for damages and wants Jones to return the footage and destroy any copies, according to the filing obtained by Rolling Stone.
