Rob Lowe says a sequel to St. Elmo’s Fire could work, but only if the story is right. In an interview with E! News, Lowe said he and several of his original castmates are open to teaming up again for a new film.
The 1985 movie also starred Demi Moore, Andie MacDowell, Andrew McCarthy, Ally Sheedy, Mare Winningham, Judd Nelson and Emilio Estevez. Lowe said revisiting those characters four decades later would be “very fertile storytelling ground” and added that there could be even more depth in their lives now than there was right after college.
According to E! News, Lowe said he believes fans have an appetite for the original film and that the team wants to “bring back that magic.” He added that the group has already gone through more than one version of the script and will not move forward until they feel it is right.
Lowe also discussed his partnership with Accredited Debt Relief, saying his early career involved a lot of trial and error when it came to money. He said he has tried to pass along financial lessons to his sons, Matthew Edward and John Owen, including the value of being entrepreneurial and setting money aside.
