Carly Rae Jepsen has released a new single called “Don’t Leave Me on the Dance Floor,” an ABBA-inspired song from her upcoming double album Day and Night, according to Rolling Stone.
The track is the first song shared from the “Night” portion of the 24-song project. Jepsen wrote it with producers CJ Baran and Arthur Besnainou after seeing the ABBA Voyage show in London.
In a statement, Jepsen said she was inspired to create her own ABBA-style pop song after traveling from recording in Sweden to see the show. She said she wanted a strong melody, updated production, and a hook that would make listeners want to sing along.
The song also arrives with a new video directed by Jeremy O. Harris, who is making his music video directing debut. The visual stars actors Alden Ehrenreich and Olivia Washington. Day and Night is set to arrive on September 18, and Jepsen has already released “On Wires” and “After All” from the album.
