InMaricopa shared a banana bread recipe that writer Ryan Tafoya says came from a close friend named Meg, who became one of her dearest friends after dating Tafoya’s brother in high school.
According to the story, the two have continued to move through similar life stages over the years, marrying within months of each other and later becoming moms managing busy households. Tafoya said the friendship has been one of the greatest blessings in her life.
Tafoya recalled enjoying the bread on rainy Pacific Northwest days while the kids played, and said she asked Meg for the recipe after trying it. Since then, it has become her regular go-to banana bread recipe.
While Tafoya said she has experimented with other versions over the years, she keeps coming back to Meg’s recipe. She noted that she often adds more cinnamon, and sometimes includes chocolate chips and cocoa powder for her children, though she prefers it most when made the original way.
