Reading Festival has applied for a licensing change that would allow live music on Thursday night, which would make the event a four-day festival, according to NME.
At present, the main festival runs from Friday through Sunday, while Wednesday and Thursday are used for camping-ticket holders to arrive and get settled. The proposed change would allow amplified music on the main stage only from 5pm to midnight on Thursdays.
Festival organisers Festival Republic have submitted the request to Reading Borough Council, and the change could take effect from 2027 if it is approved.
This year’s Reading Festival runs from August 27 to 30. Its sister event in Leeds already has permission for Thursday performances, and will use that option for the first time this year with Kasabian headlining the main stage.
