Firefighters in Pennsylvania rescued a pony that wandered into a creek and became stuck in deep mud, according to UPI Odd News.
The Brecknock Township Volunteer Fire Company said on social media that crews were called out Wednesday evening for what it described as an unusual rescue. The pony was estimated to weigh between 700 and 800 pounds.
Photos from the scene showed firefighters using ropes and a wooden board to reach the animal and secure it with straps.
The pony was then lifted out of the mud with a bucket truck. The fire company said the incident was a reminder that volunteers respond to more than fires and crashes, including calls to help animals in need.
