A posthumous memoir by L7 bassist Jennifer Finch is scheduled to be published early next year, according to Pitchfork.
The book, Shooting Up and Making Out: A Memoir of My Life in LA and L7, was co-written with Jeff Alulis and finished before Finch died in July. It will cover her teenage years in the Los Angeles punk scene, her heroin addiction, and her time in bands including Courtney Love’s Sugar Babydoll and L7.
Da Capo is set to release the memoir on January 19, 2027.
In a statement, Alulis said he and Finch spent two years working on the book and made sure she was satisfied with every word. He said he is heartbroken that she will not see it published, but grateful to share her life and legacy with readers.
Finch died on July 18 at age 59 after being diagnosed with thyroid cancer in 2011 and, more recently, an aggressive brain cancer. According to the GoFundMe organized by her L7 bandmates, complications from radiation treatment led to multiple surgeries. L7 said it will move ahead with its North American farewell tour in October.
