Pitchfork highlights new albums from Kelela, Jack White, Future and more

Pitchfork has rounded up 12 new albums and projects worth hearing now, featuring releases from Kelela, Jack White, Twisted Teens, Slayr and other artists. The publication says it curates the weekly list to help listeners sort through the steady stream of new music on streaming services.

Among the standout releases is Kelela’s third full-length for Warp, New Avatar, which Pitchfork describes as a major expansion of her sound. The album leans into gritty shoegaze textures while still drawing on the beat-driven R&B that first defined her career.

Jack White is also back with Frozen Charlotte, his seventh studio album and first to be entirely self-produced, according to Pitchfork. The record is built around a character he calls “Frozen Charlatan” and was made with longtime collaborators Patrick Keeler, Dominic Davis and Bobby Emmett.

The roundup also includes Future’s The Real Me, a 22-track album and his 10th LP, as well as new work from New Orleans garage rock band Twisted Teens and Philadelphia experimental producer Garrett Burke, whose album is titled Gloorp Life. Pitchfork also spotlights Slayr’s six-track EP Avant Nova, which includes production from Underscores and a feature from Prettifun.
