Pitbull set a Guinness World Record on Friday in London for the largest gathering of people wearing bald caps, according to Rolling Stone. The record was set at BST Festival in Hyde Park, where Pitbull was the headliner.
Guinness said 22,141 fans showed up wearing bald caps, helping establish the new mark. Pitbull also wore a bald cap himself so he could count toward the record, since the category was not for bald people but for people wearing bald caps.
According to The Guardian, Pitbull reacted to the honor by saying he was speechless and noted his Cuban background while accepting the award. An official adjudicator for Guinness World Records, Will Munford, explained that the cap requirement applied to everyone counted in the final total.
Munford said volunteers numbered about 400 and checked people individually as they entered and on site. He added that drone footage and 42 counters backstage were also used to verify the total. The idea for the attempt came from a fan, and Pitbull later announced the record effort in February, encouraging fans to join him at Hyde Park on July 10.
