Phoebe Bridgers hosted a roller-skating listening party for her new album, Lost Weekend, at Moonlight Rollerway in Glendale on Tuesday night, according to NME. Fans heard the record while Bridgers skated with them around the rink.
One attendee later posted on Reddit that Bridgers was keeping pace on skates and was fast enough that only some fans could match her speed and say hello. During a Q&A on the rink floor, about 200 people were seated there, according to Variety.
Bridgers said she had long wanted to pair slow, sad songs with skating, calling the contrast “weird” but interesting. She also said the album title comes from the 1945 film The Lost Weekend, which is about alcohol addiction and a fugue state.
Before the Q&A, she showed an early cut of a video titled “I Can’t Wait,” which she said would later include drone footage from the skating event. Bridgers has also announced phone-free UK shows tied to the album, followed by The Lost Tour in North America, the UK and Europe later this year.
