Paris Jackson has opened up about perforating her septum from snorting drugs, saying the damage was so severe that she could see straight through her nose, according to NME.
In an interview on the On Purpose With Jay Shetty podcast, Jackson said she “freaked out” when she realized what had happened and saw blood everywhere. She explained that a doctor told her the injury could be repaired, but warned that further drug use could cause the same damage again.
Jackson said the doctor told her there were only so many reconstructive surgeries that could be done, and that it would not be worth fixing the septum if she planned to keep using drugs. A perforated septum is a hole in the cartilage that separates the nostrils.
The singer and actor, who is the daughter of Michael Jackson, is preparing to release her second studio album, Happiest Day Of My Life, on Friday, August 21. The album was made with Linda Perry and follows her 2020 debut, Wilted.
Jackson first shared news of the injury last November in a TikTok video, and she later marked six years of sobriety in January. She also recently said she no longer feels obligated to post public tributes to her father because she does not want them to seem performative.
