Orville Peck says suicide attempt was a turning point before 2023 tour cancellation

Orville Peck is sharing new details about the suicide attempt that came before he canceled his Bronco tour in June 2023. In a new interview with Rolling Stone, the country singer said he was dealing with serious mental and physical health issues at the time.

Peck said he intentionally overdosed two days before announcing the cancellation. He described himself as a “bad addict” and a “coping alcoholic,” and said he was in one of the worst places of his life.

The singer, whose real name is Daniel Pitout, said the experience became a major turning point for him. He also pointed to a breakup and time in rehab as part of what shaped his fourth album, Mule, which is due Sept. 18 through Warner Records.

According to Billboard, the album’s lead single, “Too Little, Too Late,” was released Friday. Peck also said his rehab experience inspired the track “Rehab Blues.” He is also preparing to launch his Man Turned Mule 2026 North American tour on Oct. 28 in Sacramento, California.
