Fontaines D.C. drummer Tom Coll has launched a new independent label and record store focused entirely on Irish music, according to NME.
Coll founded Inis Records with Michael Roe, who played drums in Adebisi Shank and co-founded the Richter Collective label, and Ken Allen of Faction Records. The company plans to release music from emerging and established Irish artists, along with reissues and records that are currently out of print.
The online store will stock Irish music from a range of eras and genres, and Inis will also offer distribution and other services for selected independent labels. Coll said the goal is to give Irish music a stronger platform and help create special physical releases for artists.
Inis Records will debut with a new edition of The Fatima Mansions’ 1989 album Against Nature, which has been out of print. More releases are planned for later this year, including a traditional Irish music compilation assembled by Coll and a set of showband recordings curated by Charles Hendy of The Mary Wallopers.
The store is already carrying records by acts including Fontaines D.C., Gilla Band, Just Mustard, Gurriers, Enya, John Francis Flynn and Bicep. The label has also invited independent and emerging artists without distribution to submit physical releases for consideration.
