Olivia Rodrigo joins The Smashing Pumpkins at Lollapalooza

Olivia Rodrigo joined The Smashing Pumpkins onstage at Lollapalooza on Thursday night, according to Stereogum. She performed “Thirty-Three” with the band, making it only the second time the group has played the Mellon Collie single since 2018.

The performance came after the Pumpkins had already played the song at their Lollapalooza aftershow at the Riviera on Wednesday. It also marked the first time the Chicago band has played its hometown festival in 32 years.

Yungblud also appeared during the set, coming out for “Luna” after his own performance earlier in the day. He has previously said his song “Zombie” was inspired by the Siamese Dream era, and he worked with the Pumpkins on a rerecording earlier this year.

Former Pumpkins bassist Melissa Auf der Maur joined the band for the final song, “The Everlasting Gaze.” She had previously performed with the group at the aftershow and in Montreal last year, according to Stereogum.
