The National Weather Service is warning that dangerous heat will continue across Maricopa and Pinal counties through the weekend.
According to NWS officials, temperatures could climb to 117 degrees each day through Sunday, Aug. 9.
The heat wave is also affecting energy use. Preliminary figures show Arizona Public Service customers reached an all-time peak in energy demand during the current stretch of extreme temperatures.
Residents are being urged to take the heat seriously as the region moves through another day of intense summer weather, according to the National Weather Service.
