Noah Kahan criticized the White House after it used his song “American Cars” in an Instagram post about President Donald Trump’s visit to General Motors’ flagship test site in Michigan, according to Rolling Stone.
The post showed Trump during a stop where he promoted his tariffs on the auto industry and watched a drag race. Kahan’s track was used as the soundtrack, even though the song was written for his sister, Sasha, about her role as the family’s problem solver.
After fans tagged him in the comments, Kahan responded on Tuesday that he would never approve his music being used to support Trump or his administration.
Rolling Stone reported that representatives for Kahan and the White House did not immediately respond to requests for comment. The story also noted that the Trump administration has faced criticism from other musicians over the use of their songs in government posts.
