Nic Vansteenberghe has publicly addressed his breakup from Love Island USA costar Olandria Carthen. In a subscribers-only TikTok posted July 26, he wrote that the rumors were true and said he wanted to clear the air, according to E! News.
Vansteenberghe said he did not want to give fans false hope and added that he and Carthen will “continue to love each other ALWAYS.” He also described the breakup as a sensitive and private matter and asked people to respect their privacy.
The statement came days after E! News confirmed the pair had ended their year-long relationship. Vansteenberghe and Carthen, who were together after leaving Fiji last summer, had previously spoken about their connection on and off the show.
Before the split, Carthen told Variety that the two had liked each other from the start, while Vansteenberghe later told E! News in April that they were still figuring out what to count as their anniversary. Carthen also told Cosmopolitan in June that keeping parts of their relationship private was important for their mental health.
