Electronic music is the fastest-growing genre in the United States in 2026, according to a new report highlighted by NME. The data comes from Luminate’s mid-year industry analysis.
Dance music led the pack in growth compared with the previous year, with artists such as Disco Lines and John Summit helping drive interest. The report also noted renewed attention on songs released between 2015 and 2017.
Even with electronic music on top for growth, R&B and hip-hop remain the most popular genres overall. Luminate said those two styles make up one in every four songs played online in the U.S.
The report also found a sharp rise in Latin music interest, with casual listenership reaching 54 per cent in the first quarter of 2026. Luminate said that increase may be tied to artists including Shakira, Peso Pluma, Karol G and Bad Bunny, while Spanish-language music now accounts for about one in every 10 streams in the U.S.
Overall streaming activity rose 4.8 per cent compared with the same point in 2025, and UK artists also gained ground in the American market, rising to 7.8 per cent.
