Mutoid Man are drawing attention to what they say sounds like a familiar vocal line in FIFA’s official 2026 World Cup anthem. The metal supergroup shared the comparison on Instagram on July 3, according to NME.
The band posted the FIFA World Cup 2026 logo with the words “Official Theme” and wrote, “Hey @fifaworldcup that vocal line sure sounds familiar,” alongside the hashtag #goalofthevoid. That tag references their 2023 track “Call Of The Void,” from the album “Mutants.”
The song in question is “DNA,” the official FIFA World Cup 2026 anthem, which features Andrea Bocelli, David Guetta, Megan Thee Stallion and EJAE. Mutoid Man did not directly accuse anyone of plagiarism, and neither FIFA nor the artists involved had publicly responded at the time of writing.
“DNA” was released on June 10 and was performed by Bocelli and EJAE at the World Cup opening ceremony in Mexico City the following day. FIFA has described the track as the tournament’s “ceremonial and emotional signature,” saying it was meant to reflect identity, unity and belonging.
Elsewhere in the tournament’s music plans, Shakira and Burna Boy opened the event at Mexico City’s Azteca Stadium last month with “Dai Dai,” another official World Cup song. Shakira is also scheduled to perform at the first FIFA World Cup final halftime show on July 19 at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
